Promoting the health & well being of African women & their families in Minnesota

MAWA is pleased to announce an art contest!

The Rules

Are you an illustrator or aspiring illustrator? MAWA is seeking an artistic depiction of the harms of second-hand smoke, or why people should avoid second-hand smoke. Your entry should convey such a message clearly while remaining culturally appropriate for African girls, the primary audience for the message.  We are looking for the best illustration or cartoon that will bring this message to African girls and women.  Show us your creativity.

  • The winning entry will be used on our second-hand smoke research web page(s), and perhaps other materials as well.

  • Remember that this design may include both artwork and text.

  • The winning entry will provide the best expression of the dangers of second-hand smoke to an audience of African girls and women, and be culturally appropriate to the African context.

  • Spelling and grammar must be perfect to make your artistic expression shine.

  • The winning entry is the property of MAWA and may be altered at our discretion for use on our website and in any of our other materials.

The Prize
